I was born on July 13, 1909 in North Providence, R.I.; so, that means I am a realy old youngun. I practically grew up on my granparents' farm in north eastern Conn.. I used to love the smell of new mown hay and picking and eating new sweet peas....right off the vines. I had one brother, Frank who was younger than I; I used to beat up on him a lot........and got spanked more than once.
I became a registered nurse in 1930 and subsequently was a memeber of the Army Nurse Corps during WWII and spent two years in Great Britian. I was able to go to college on the G.I. Bill and earned two degrees at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
I have had so many careers it is almost unbelievable inc.: an elementary school counselor with the Houston I.S.D., a counselor with the Texas Rehabilitation Commision (from which I retired) and two tours as a VISTA volunteer. I also nearly made a career out of volunteering and had the priviledge of initiating the Houston Parents of Gays and Lesbian group in 1978.,and became very active in adult literacy beginning in 1960 and contiued in this field until 1998 when I was no longer able to drive.
I have two sons, Pat and Mike, two grandchildren, Karen and Kristopher and a step-grandson, Mikey who is a puter guru and keeps my puter up and running.
After my family I have two loves: travelling to chatter bashes and surfing the web. I also have a very special man who is so dear to me. I do have a book in which I enter the name of each chatter with whom I actually chat. There are over 2,000 names now from 22 countries besides the U.S. It has been a great pleasure to meet so many of my chat friends at the 4 bashes which I have attended to date.
